Derrick Verkaik grew up in London, Ontario, but lived almost 11 years in Vancouver until he met his wife whose hometown turned out to be Kamloops and after their wedding, the couple decided to settle in Kamloops. Derrick excels with several years of customer service experience.

Derrick started working with the Vancity Credit Union as a teller when he first switched careers. That job changed his career trajectory as he quickly fell in love with the combination of customer service and assisting individuals with their finances. When he moved to Kamloops, he was hoping to build his finance career when he found his role at Abbott and feels that the future here at Abbott is so bright that he needs to wear sunglasses.

Derrick enjoys hiking and exploring Kamloops, running, photography, digital layout, and design, and is a huge fan of hockey (Go Canucks!).
